Single Leg Balance in a Pre-Walker

Your child, who can’t walk yet, is totally capable of standing on one leg! You may not realize it, but as they step over something, they are briefly in that single leg stance, improving their balance!

⭐️

When they are cruising, try putting your leg out for them to step over.

⭐️

Check out this progression: these were all recorded on the same day.

-First trial, this little one didn’t clear his foot over my leg and fell down.

-Second trial, I physically help him clear his foot over my leg BEFORE he gets frustrated and gives up so that he experiences success of this activity. He needed help getting that second foot over, too.

-Third trial, he is able to step over independently!

Make sure you practice each direction so that your little one gets single leg balance practice on both sides!
